Alliance Group Microfinance Organization (AGM), established in 2005, is a privately owned limited liability company that provides easily accessible, diverse and high-quality financial services to citizens of Georgia. From its two branches (Tbilisi, Zugdidi), AGM finances individuals as well as micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises in urban and rural areas of Georgia. As of 2012, AGM has served more than 5,800 customers.
AGM’s vision is to create and promote sustainable economic development in Georgia by providing capital and financial education to various communities, seeking to carefully balance its financial and social objectives. AGM’s mission is to support the production (including regeneration), marketing and sales of native Georgian products by delivering financial products and services to underprivileged and poor communities in rural and urban areas (including farmers, women and families, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) - long-term refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia from the civil conflicts of the early 1990s).
The key philosophies which govern AGM’s lending process are Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, Professionalism, Transparency and Teamwork. The key indicators that are considered in each credit application process are (a) the economic feasibility of the use of funds, (b) the understanding of the borrower as to how the credit will be repaid responsibly, (c) social aspects of the credit (improving the livelihood of the borrower), and (d) the extent to which the credit can provide income generation and new employment opportunities.
In February 2011, specialized microfinance rating agency Planet Rating conducted an evaluation of AGM and assigned the GIRAFE grade of C++ with POSITIVE outlook. In September 2011, AGM received International Certificate for Quality Management Standard ISO 9001. AGM is the only microfinance organization in Georgia to have attained this ISO 9001 certification.
